About the Vacation Home's
Once your Sim travels to the vacation home, that becomes their home base for the duration of the vacation. They can visit hotels and campgrounds from there, but they must return to the vacation home to save.
Unlike hotels, vacation homes are saved in the state that you leave them in, so messes and other changes will be there when you return.

Buying a Home
Sims must be on their home lot to purchase a vacation home. You make the purchase from the computer or phone. You can sell the home in the same way. You can also transfer the lot to another household member.

If you own Open for Business, you can also sell the deed to your vacation home by placing it For Sale in your business.

Pass me Down
If the owner of the vacation home dies, the member of the owner's household (teen or older) with the highest Lifetime Relationship with the owner, the owner's closest relative (by blood or by marriage), or to the owner's closest friend. It will go back to the community and revert to unowned status if there is no one suitable to inherit it.
