In the University Expansion a new age group was added, Young Adult, this age group is only available to a Sim who attends University. Upon entering University, the Teen Age group will fall away.
The transition from one age group to the next is a very important opportunity. If you know how they work, they will work for you... Two days before the event, a notice bubble will pop-up informing you of the birthday. From this point onwards, a Sim can grow up at any time, by clicking on them, and selecting "Grow Up" If this function is not selected, at 7pm on the day of the birthday, the Sim will Automatically grow up. Sims always enjoy a Birthday Party. Remember to blow those Candles out!

Age Span: 3 Days Goals: None Needs: Hunger Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social and Hygiene Most Important Needs: Hunger and Social. If these are not satisfied, the Social Worker will take the children away! Least Important: Bladder, Fun About: Babies are the shortest and most limited age group as you can not view their needs or control them in anyway. The only way for you to interact with a babies is to monitor it by its cries. It may seem cruel but babies can be left on the floor, They will not be stepped on or get hurt.
>> Toddlers
Age Span: 4 Days Goals: Learn to Talk, Learn to Walk, Potty Train, Begin learning skills (Charisma, Logic and Creativity only), build relationships with family members and get Aspiration Score as high as possible for Gameplay advantages Needs: Hunger, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social and Hygiene Most Important Needs: Social & Hunger Least Important Needs: Hygiene, Bladder About: This is the first interactions the player can have with the Sim from Time of Birth. These Sims are now mobile by means of crawling or after being taught how to walk. All control panel actions are now available with toddlers, unlike babies. It is important for your Sims to focus a lot of attention on their children as this will help to improve their aspiration, which is a vital need when playing the game! Toddlers default aspiration is Grow Up.

Age Span: 8 Days Goals: Learn to Study, Get good Grades, Make Friends, Build Skills, get aspiration as high as possible Needs: Hunger, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social, Hygiene and Comfort Most Important Needs: Social, Hunger and Fun Least Important Needs: Comfort, Bladder About: Childhood is marked primarily by the Sims entering school. Five Days a week, Sims will attend school from 9am to 3pm. If the Sims is picked up by the school bus, he or she MUST be ready by 8am or might end up missing the bus! Friends are very important to Sims, so remember to invite lots of children over to play with them. This will help boost the Fun levels.
>> Teens
Age Span: 15 Days Goals: Depends on what Aspiration has been chosen, get a head start in career track, attend University*, do well in school, get Aspiration as high as possible! Needs: All Most Important Needs: Social, Hunger & Fun Least Important Needs: Energy & Comfort About: Teens mark the age were Sims can begin to work. This is were a Sim begins to prove him/herself in the business world. Although the career tracks do not offer much they can help with the family funds as well. With adulthood very soon, your Sims will start to find their true love, Romance now becomes a key role in your Sims life, he or she can now develop crushes and even enter a committed relationship! Teens can now look after babies and children, so the need for a nanny is no longer required. Teens will start school at 9am and finish at 3pm.

Teens need sleep and bathe once per a day and must eat 3 times per a day!
Teens may use shower or bathtub for Hygiene Satisfaction.
When teens are in need distress, they will show the same symptoms as adults.
Teens laggin in their Aspiration will exhibit immaturity behaviours.
Teens can learn all skills from all skill objects.
Teens are limited to flirt, kiss and hug.
Teens with low daily and lifetime relationships will run away from home. If not found they will return a day before they become an adult.
Teens can ask for permission to go out or they can sneak out.
Teens can die from anything except old age.

Age Span: 9-31 Days Goals: Depends on Aspiration, retire, work on career, enter elder career track, encourage traits and teach skills to youngsters, collect pension, maximise aspiration to increase death benefit for loved ones. Needs: All Most Important Needs: Comfort, Bladder Least Important Needs: Hunger, Fun
