Thank you to Violet for this in-depth how-to on The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff fashion runway.
Hosting
a fashion show on your very own runway is exciting, but it’s also a lot
of work! You didn’t think you could just click on the runway and have
everything run itself, did you? You did? Well, I’m nowhere near the
Diva status of Drama Llama, but I can show you a thing or two about
runways.
Building a Runway
Runways
are simply a raised staging area. You can build them by going to Build
Mode, then Foundations & Decks, then choose one of the Interior
Foundation tools.
You
can build them the same way you would a porch or patio. Make sure you
know what you are using it for before you build that way you make it
the right size. Models needs less space, bands or raised dancefloors
need more.
- Add
stairs if you want the stage to be accessible, and there's even cool
stage floor lighting in the Fence section of Build Mode.

Using the Runway
Remember
that the runway is not an object (so there are no actions associated
with it); it is a build option to help give you more control over the
decor and feel of your lot.
Working the catwalk is a manual process, but it’s not complicated.
- Simply direct your model to the backstage area.
-
Position them at the top of the runway.
-
Tell them to walk to the end of the runway.
-
Snap a few pictures as they strut their stuff.
-
Direct them to walk back to the top of the catwalk and then offstage.

Turning off Free Will can help you set up models and guests for better shots (since they'll stay where you place them).
No,
there aren’t any fancy poses or walks that the runway makes you do, but
it works really well for stories and videos. You can even use it to
stage a performance for your favorite Sim band (it looks great with
effect lighting).
Try using normal Sim actions to setup fun shots so it looks like your model is posing.
